Kevin Spacey dismisses prosecution case as feeble and accuses accuser of seeking financial gain

In a courtroom at Southwark Crown Court, the renowned Hollywood actor testified about the challenges he faced with trust due to his fame. While refuting the allegations made against him by an alleged victim he met in a West End theatre in the mid-2000s, the actor described the accusation as “absolute nonsense.” Prosecutor Christine Agnew KC challenged his denial, stating that he did, in fact, grab the alleged victim. Surprised by this accusation, the actor turned to the judge inquiring, “Did he accuse me of grabbing his private parts?” The defendant firmly answered, “I did not.”

During his testimony, the actor expressed his objection to the term “crotch grab” and disagreed with the usage of it by his accusers. He denied 12 charges related to sexual assault and indecent assault, which allegedly took place between 2001 and 2013.

When questioned by Agnew, the actor denied that he would engage in a “crotch grab” when meeting someone for the first time, and he rejected the notion that it was his “trademark.” He clarified that it was the specific term he objected to, rather than the act itself.

Addressing allegations made by another aspiring actor who claimed that the actor had drugged him and performed a sex act on him while he was asleep, the actor described their encounter as consensual. Refuting the claim that the complainant was asleep, the actor dismissed it as a weak theory put forth by the prosecution.

Agnew suggested that the actor had ignored signs from the four complainants, to which he admitted that he “definitely misread” the signs from one individual. However, he claimed to have had “consensual interactions” with two other complainants.

When asked whether he believed people were tempted by him due to his fame, the actor expressed his hope that he was liked for who he was as a person, rather than for his celebrity status. He acknowledged his fame but stated that he didn’t constantly think about it. Reflecting on his career, he considered himself fortunate to have played remarkable film roles.

Despite his fame, the actor admitted that he had experienced loneliness and had reached out to others for emotional support. Agnew questioned whether the actor engaged in sexual encounters to alleviate his loneliness, to which he responded, “Welcome to life. Yes, yes I did.” When asked if he found pleasure in taking sexual risks, such as one-night stands, the actor was open about his promiscuity but emphasized that it didn’t make him a bad person.

Agnew raised the question of whether the actor’s status made it easier for him to influence others, to which he firmly denied. He explained that his fame made it harder for him to trust people.

The actor also clarified his preference for masculine men but expressed uncertainty about the sexual orientation of those he encountered. He stated, “How would I know if they were straight or not?”

The defendant, referred to by his full name Kevin Spacey Fowler in court, has been accused of sexual assault and indecent assault. The trial continues.
