Carlos Alcaraz acknowledges likelihood of father filming Novak Djokovic Wimbledon session, denies any malicious intent.

Carlos Alcaraz, the top-ranked men’s tennis player, acknowledged on Wednesday that his father had indeed been filming Novak Djokovic during a training session, as reported by Serbian media. However, Alcaraz emphasized that the intent behind the recordings was not malicious.

According to Serbian news broadcaster B92, Alcaraz and his team, including his father, were present at one of Djokovic’s training sessions on Monday, where Alcaraz’s father started filming.

In response to the allegations, Djokovic expressed his frustrations about the lack of privacy in training sessions. He explained that knowing others are watching and evaluating his every move affects his preparation for future matches, including a potential meeting with Alcaraz.

During his quarterfinal press conference, Alcaraz confirmed that his father filmed Djokovic, but he clarified that it was merely out of admiration for the tennis superstar. Alcaraz mentioned that his father is an avid fan of tennis and spends long hours watching matches and practices.

Alcaraz denied using the recordings to gain a competitive advantage, stating that he has already seen many videos of Djokovic available on various platforms.

It is important to note that the practice courts at Wimbledon are accessible to reporters and a limited number of fans. Additionally, adjacent courts often have no walls or barriers between them, allowing players to practice within close proximity.

As Alcaraz progresses in the tournament, he is one match away from potentially facing Djokovic in the Wimbledon final. However, his immediate focus is on his upcoming match against Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals.
