Miss Grand Philippines 2023 was recently crowned at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. Nikki De Moura, hailing from Cagayan de Oro City, emerged victorious among 29 other contenders. She succeeds Roberta Tamondong, who placed fifth in the 2022 Miss Grand International pageant.
The reigning Miss Grand International, Isabella Menin from Brazil, witnessed De Moura’s coronation and will compete as the country’s official delegate in the upcoming 11th edition of the global competition.
Alongside De Moura, the national pageant also crowned three other titleholders. Michelle Arceo from Bagumbayan, Quezon City, was declared Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas and will represent the Philippines in the 2023 Reina Hispanoamericana pageant in Bolivia. Herlene Budol from Angono, Rizal, won the Miss Philippines Tourism title, and Francine Reyes from Tarlac was crowned Miss Eco Teen Philippines.
Arceo is a seasoned competitor, having participated in various national and international pageants, including the Miss World Philippines pageant. In 2021, she earned the Miss Environment Philippines title and represented the country in the first edition of the Miss Environment International tilt in India, where she finished as Miss Ecology International. She also achieved first runner-up in the 2022 Century Superbods contest.
De Moura’s journey in pageantry began in 2019 when she was crowned Miss Teen Philippines at the age of 15. In 2021, she joined the reality modeling competition “Supermodel Me” and secured the second position at the age of 17.
Shanon Tampon from Caloocan City and Charie Manalo Sergio from Caluya, Antique, were announced as the first and second runners-up, respectively, in the Miss Grand Philippines 2023 competition. Tampon previously represented the Philippines in the Miss Elite pageant’s 2022 edition and clinched the first runner-up title.
Budol, known for her comedic prowess in the TV series “Magandang Dilag,” participated in the 2022 Binibining Pilipinas pageant and finished as first runner-up. Despite being appointed to represent the Philippines in the Miss Planet International pageant, she had to withdraw due to irregularities in the pageant’s staging.
The Miss Grand Philippines pageant organized by ALV Pageant Circle is the country’s second standalone national competition to select its delegate for the Miss Grand International contest. The highest placement for the Philippines in the Miss Grand International pageant is first runner-up, achieved by Nicole Cordoves in 2016 and Samantha Bernardo in 2020. Other Bb. Pilipinas queens such as Ali Forbes, Parul Shah, and Elizabeth Clenci have also finished in the Top 5.
The 2023 Miss Grand International pageant is scheduled to take place in Vietnam in October.
