In Hollywood, Devastating Fire Engulfs Two-Story Apartment Building

A garden-style apartment building in Hollywood was engulfed in flames on Wednesday, causing injuries to a firefighter and a woman who had to be hospitalized.

The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) swiftly responded to the incident at a 32-unit, 18,900-square-foot building in the 7700 block of Hollywood Boulevard. The fire, initially reported as two burning vehicles in a carport, quickly spread to the attic of the structure.

Firefighters heroically rescued a woman trapped on the second floor. She was subsequently taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for treatment of minor burn injuries and smoke inhalation.

During the firefighting operation, one LAFD firefighter sustained a hand laceration. However, after receiving treatment, they bravely returned to the scene to assist their colleagues.

The intensity of the fire caused substantial damage, leading to the roof of the building partially collapsing.

Over 126 LAFD firefighters, along with assistance from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, battled the flames for more than 90 minutes. The fire even spread to two adjacent apartment buildings, while another building nearby only suffered smoke damage.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
