Man from Elsinore Faces Charges for Multiple Instances of Child Molestation

A 35-year-old man has been charged with a dozen felony offenses for sexually assaulting a young girl from Lake Elsinore over a span of almost six years. The accused, Martin Ancamil, was arrested on Monday after an investigation by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Ancamil faces six counts of forcible lewd acts on a minor, three counts of forced sexual penetration, and one count each of oral copulation of a minor, aggravated sexual assault of a child, and assault with intent to commit mayhem. He also faces sentence-enhancing allegations of inflicting injuries, targeting a vulnerable victim, and exploiting a position of trust.

During his arraignment, Ancamil pleaded not guilty before Superior Court Judge Jeff Zimel. A felony settlement conference has been scheduled for July 21 at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta. He is currently being held at the Byrd Detention Center on $5 million bail.

The investigation began last month when deputies received a report of a possible sexual assault on a minor at a residence on Cambern Avenue. Court records reveal a series of assaults that started in November 2017 and continued until recently. The victim, referred to as “M.L.,” endured various forms of abuse, ranging from groping to rape.

Details about the specific connection between Ancamil and the victim have not been disclosed, and it remains unclear why the offenses were not reported earlier. Detectives gathered enough evidence to obtain a warrant for Ancamil’s arrest, which was executed without incident on Monday morning. Ancamil does not have any prior felony or misdemeanor convictions in Riverside County.
