As Republican Presidential Nomination Race Intensifies, Tim Scott Amasses $21 Million War Chest

Senator Tim Scott is preparing to debate other GOP candidates for the 2024 presidential nomination. He believes that these debates will be a crucial moment for the Republican Party. In addition, Scott addresses the “radical left’s” criticism of the bootstraps mentality.

Scott’s campaign recently announced that they ended the second quarter of 2023 with over $21 million cash-on-hand. They raised $6.1 million during this period, from April to June. Tim PAC, the super PAC supporting Scott’s White House bid, raised $19.28 million in the second quarter and had over $15 million cash on hand by the end of June.

The majority of Scott’s fundraising came in the six weeks following his official declaration of candidacy on May 22. As the only Black Republican in the Senate and a rising star in the GOP, Scott launched his campaign at Charleston Southern University, his alma mater, in North Charleston, South Carolina.

After declaring his candidacy, Scott raised $2 million within the first 24 hours. The campaign emphasizes that the funds raised will be primarily used for the GOP presidential primary campaign.

Campaign manager Jennifer DeCasper states that Scott is the strongest messenger in the field with a consistent conservative record. She also confirms that Scott has received over 75,000 donations from more than 53,000 unique donors across all 50 states. This meets the Republican National Committee’s threshold of 40,000 individual contributions for candidates to participate in the first GOP presidential nomination debate on August 23 in Milwaukee.

Despite currently polling in the single digits, Scott’s uplifting conservative message has garnered support. TIM PAC has launched a $7.25 million ad campaign in Iowa and New Hampshire to further boost his visibility and appeal among Republican voters.

Former President Donald Trump remains the front-runner in the GOP surveys, having raised $35 million in the past three months. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is second in the polls, raised $20 million during the second quarter. Another contender, Nikki Haley, raised $7.3 million during the same period.

Fundraising and polling are crucial indicators of a candidate’s popularity and campaign strength. The funds raised will be used for campaign expenses such as travel, advertisements, and voter outreach efforts.
