The girls recently opened their fourth birthday cards from their late father, where he shared advice for their upcoming start at school and encouraged them to look after each other. Nick passed away at the age of 34 in November 2020, nine months after being diagnosed with a glioblastoma, an aggressive form of cancer. Nick’s wife, Victoria Keenan, revealed that her husband was always a pillar of strength and support for everyone, including herself. Even in the midst of his own battle, Nick remained a source of strength for those around him. In March 2020, doctors informed Nick that he likely had less than a year to live. Despite this devastating news, he continued to face each day with courage and determination.
Victoria recalls the moment she realized something was wrong when Nick returned from a business trip early, visibly upset. It was then that they discovered a lesion the size of a tennis ball on the left side of Nick’s brain. Despite the challenges they faced, Nick’s treatment went well, and he and Victoria decided to proceed with IVF and fulfill their dreams of starting a family. However, in December 2019, just six months after their daughters were born, Nick’s speech became slurred. Medical examinations revealed that his tumor had developed into a glioblastoma, and he was given a prognosis of less than a year to live. Nick continued to undergo treatments and was considered for a clinical trial, but unfortunately, there came a point when no further options were available.
In November 2020, Nick passed away at a hospice after becoming unconscious at home. Victoria’s parents stepped in to care for their sleeping daughters, while Victoria stayed by Nick’s side during his final moments. After his passing, Victoria faced the difficult task of carrying on as a mother to their young daughters, knowing that their loving father was no longer with them. As a testament to the bond they shared, Victoria reveals that she bought Nick a dachshund puppy named Poppy following his diagnosis. Tragically, Poppy also succumbed to a brain tumor, leaving Victoria devastated.
