Robber Found Guilty and Accused of Orchestrating Identity Theft Plot to Steal Cars

A 49-year-old individual convicted of robbery and burglary appeared in court on Monday in Santa Ana. The charges against Jean Anthony Parret include stealing or attempting to steal 10 vehicles as part of an identity theft scheme. Court records show that Parret was initially charged in April with seven counts of stealing vehicles and three counts of attempted theft from car dealerships across the Southland. In addition, the defendant faces five felony charges of identity theft and five felony charges of identity theft with a previous conviction. The criminal complaint also includes sentencing enhancements for aggravated white-collar crime between $100,000 and $500,000. Parret is currently being held on bail set at $599,915.

The defendant was charged by the Attorney General’s Office for crimes committed in Orange, Los Angeles, Kern, Ventura, and Riverside counties.

The accused allegedly used someone else’s identity in a series of vehicle thefts. These incidents include stealing a 2021 Ford Ranger Lariat from Cal Worthington Ford in Long Beach on November 18, 2021; a 2020 Ford Ranger from Kia Downtown of Los Angeles on November 23, 2021; a 2022 Chevy Silverado from G. Bunnin Chevrolet in Santa Paula on November 26, 2021; a 2021 Nissan Titan from Garden Grove Nissan on December 15, 2021; a 2022 Chevy Silverado from Chevrolet of Montebello on January 4, 2022; a 2022 Ford F-150 from Norm Reeves Ford on February 21, 2022; and a 2022 Audi S3 from Walter’s Audi in Riverside on February 23, 2022.

Additionally, Parret is accused of attempting to steal a 2020 Ford Ranger from Raceway Ford in Riverside on December 22, 2021; a 2021 Ford F-150 from Cal Worthington Ford in Long Beach on January 6, 2022; and a 2021 Range Rover from South Bay Jaguar on February 23, 2022.

In relation to previous criminal activity, Parret had pleaded guilty on December 27, 2021, to charges of burglary, identity theft, grand theft auto, and forgery of public or corporate seals, all of which are felonies. The defendant had also pleaded guilty to two counts of felony robbery in May of 2012.
