Live Nation remains silent on SPAC show cancellation and refund status

Saratoga Springs witnessed a multi-band rock concert at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Saturday night, which was abruptly halted due to a bomb threat. However, Live Nation, the show’s promoter, has not yet addressed the situation officially, leaving fans uncertain about potential refunds for the canceled headlining act.

Fans have taken to various online forums to discuss the matter, sharing screenshots of replies they received from the Live Nation Concerts at SPAC Facebook page. The replies advised them to email [email protected], but many claim to have received no response after more than 24 hours. Ticketmaster, which is owned by Live Nation, also responded to inquiries, stating that refunds would only be issued if the event was canceled. However, others were told that they would receive an email with options once an update was provided by the organizers.

In response to a comment on its statement about the incident, SPAC management referred people to the [email protected] email address. Despite this, several concertgoers contacted by the Times Union on Monday evening confirmed that they had not heard anything from Live Nation or Ticketmaster.

When a reporter reached out to a local Live Nation representative, they were directed to SPAC’s statement but received no response when inquiring about refunds. An email seeking comment from Live Nation’s national press representative also went unanswered.

The refund policy for a mid-show evacuation due to a bomb threat remains unclear based on Live Nation’s venue page for SPAC. While the page states that cancellations only occur in the event of severe weather, artist cancellation, or an act of God, it doesn’t specifically mention bomb threats. It does mention that refunds will be available at the point of purchase in the event of a cancellation.

In a similar incident from a year ago, Dead & Company canceled their July 6, 2022, SPAC concert shortly before showtime due to guitarist John Mayer’s father’s health crisis. In that case, ticket refunds were promised.

Opinions among fans are divided, depending on their motivations for attending the show. Some fans came specifically to see Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Garbage, or Metric. One fan requested a refund on Facebook, stating that they only came for Noel. Another fan compared the situation to going to a steakhouse and being told they’re out of steak after having already eaten the salad and bread. However, a more understanding fan acknowledged that the portion of the show that did take place was great and believed that Live Nation should at least provide future ticket credits.

Overall, the situation remains unresolved, leaving concertgoers anxious about whether they will receive refunds or any form of compensation for the disrupted event.
