‘Remembering the Past: Legacy’ and its Exciting Spinoff ‘Crappie Lake’

  • ‘RHONY’ former stars Luann de Lesseps and Sonja Morgan expressed their opinions on Bravo’s abandoned plans for a “legacy” spinoff.
  • Morgan criticized the name, stating that it “sounds like you have one foot in the grave.”
  • The two will be appearing on their Bravo spinoff, “Welcome to Crappie Lake.”

“Real Housewives of New York” former stars Luann de Lesseps and Sonja Morgan are not fans of the recently announced failed spinoff, “RHONY: Legacy.”

“Legacy sounds like you have one foot in the grave,” commented Sonja Morgan, who appeared on “RHONY” for ten seasons before it went on pause in December 2021, in an interview with Insider.

The “legacy” spinoff, initially revealed by executive producer Andy Cohen in March 2022, was part of Bravo’s plan to refresh “RHONY” by incorporating a younger and more diverse group of Housewives after experiencing low ratings and criticism regarding the show’s direction in season 13. However, Bravo announced in May that they were changing their approach and would now feature fan-favorite New York Housewives, including de Lesseps and Morgan, in a “RHONY”-focused cast for season 5 of “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip” on Peacock.

Before embarking on their “Ultimate Girls Trip” to St. Barthélemy, de Lesseps, the ex-wife of the French Count Alexandre de Lesseps, and Morgan, previously married to the great-grandson of J.P. Morgan, are venturing to a different kind of exotic location: Benton, Illinois.

In their upcoming reality series, “Luann and Sonja: Welcome to Crappie Lake,” the longtime friends leave behind their glamorous lives in New York City to help rejuvenate the small Illinois town, which has suffered from a decline in tourism due to the pandemic. De Lesseps and Morgan experience unique adventures, such as attending a “testicle festival,” catching “crappie” catfish by hand in a lake, riding monster trucks, and interacting with locals and visitors — one of whom Morgan engages in a sexual encounter with.

“I embrace sexual freedom, and everyone knows that,” Morgan confidently states in regards to the intimate moments captured on camera.

While indulging in romantic escapades, de Lesseps and Morgan are committed to utilizing their talents to revitalize Benton during their six-week stay.

“The mayor assigned us various tasks, and we successfully completed each one. We had an extensive list,” explains de Lesseps, 58. “Our days were filled with long hours of work. We essentially sacrificed our lives for six weeks to dedicate all our time and energy to improving this town before we departed. We achieved a lot.”

“We accomplished everything on that list, and we did it as a team,” adds Morgan. “I know that when Lu says she’s going to do something, she follows through, and so do I. We’ve been doing this our entire lives through our charitable work and entertaining.”

De Lesseps and Morgan consider their greatest achievement in Benton to be organizing a town talent show called the “Benton Follies.”

“We had local dance groups who were incredibly talented but needed an extra edge. So, we decided to bring in an icon, and Paula Abdul agreed to participate. We were thrilled,” remarked de Lesseps.

After their adventures on “Crappie Lake,” the duo will reunite with former “RHONY” cast members Dorinda Medley, Ramona Singer, Kristen Taekman, and Kelly Killoren Bensimon on “Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Legacy” — also known as Luann’s “Scary Island part two.”

“It was wonderful to be together again. We broke the fourth wall frequently by discussing past events, providing unique perspectives that viewers have never heard before. This allows them to gain a better understanding of what truly occurred,” explained de Lesseps.

“While [RHONY: Legacy] did not turn out as expected, I am glad we had the opportunity to participate in this ‘Ultimate Girls Trip.’ We were all available to spend a week together somewhere, and we get eight episodes out of it,” she added. “It has a different vibe than Housewives, but at the same time, we are all together on a trip, giving it the best elements of Housewives.”Follow Google News
