Suspect Arrested in Boyle Heights After Critically Wounding 3 Individuals

Authorities have apprehended a man who was suspected of driving around the Boyle Heights area and indiscriminately shooting at people with a rifle on Saturday. Fortunately, the condition of one victim has improved since the incident.

At 6:19 a.m., a man was critically wounded at the intersection of Mission Road and Donal Avenue, as confirmed by Officer Drake Madison of the Los Angeles Police Department. However, his condition has since stabilized.

The suspect continued to fire at multiple individuals at different locations until 7:20 a.m., according to a press release from the Los Angeles Police Department.

Earlier on Saturday, Central Bureau Operations Commander Lillian Carranza tweeted about the incident, stating, “This morning, a suspect drove throughout the Hollenbeck community, terrorizing victims by shooting at three people, injuring one, and brandishing his rifle at several others in multiple locations. The officers from @LAPDHollenbeck promptly worked to identify, locate, and apprehend the suspect. Suspect in custody! They are doing their part to ensure the safety of the community!”

Patrol officers and detectives discovered an unoccupied silver vehicle matching the suspect’s description at approximately 11:20 a.m. near Third and Gertrude Streets, between the 101 and 10 freeways in Boyle Heights. The suspect was observed leaving a residence in the area and was subsequently arrested.

During the investigation, officers also found the rifle believed to be used in the crimes inside the vehicle, along with spent and unspent rounds. The suspect’s identity will be withheld until he is formally booked.
