Is Zendaya part of a love triangle involving queer individuals? Is Jacob Elordi being considered for the role of Elvis? Is ‘Euphoria’ no longer necessary?

Meet Zendaya in Luca Guadagnino’s “Challengers” and Jacob Elordi in Sofia Coppola’s “Priscilla”

While “Euphoria” has been renewed for a third season, some of its cast members are making waves outside of the show. Zendaya has joined forces with director Luca Guadagnino for the captivating sports dramedy “Challengers,” while Jacob Elordi portrays Elvis in Sofia Coppola’s biopic “Priscilla,” with Priscilla Presley herself as one of the executive producers. It seems like they’re progressing to bigger and better things, don’t you think?

The trailer for “Challengers” was released on June 21, and it has already created quite a buzz on the internet, especially with fans discussing the steamy moment when Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor’s characters simultaneously kiss Zendaya’s character’s neck. As expected, Guadagnino has added his signature touch of sensuality to the film.

So what is the movie really about? It follows the story of Tashi (played by Zendaya), a former tennis prodigy turned coach, who transforms her husband, Art (Faist), into a tennis champion. However, after a series of defeats, Tashi makes Art participate in a low-league challenger event, where he is forced to confront his former rival Patrick (O’Connor)—who also happens to be Tashi’s former boyfriend and their former best friend. With all these former connections, it’s safe to say that drama will unfold.

What caught our attention the most is Guadagnino’s hint about a complex love triangle with subtle queer undertones. The tension is palpable!

On the other hand, “Priscilla” unveiled its poster today, giving us a glimpse of Elordi’s transformation into Elvis and Cailee Spaeny’s portrayal of Priscilla. Based on Priscilla Presley’s memoir “Elvis and Me” from 1985, which chronicles her romance with the King of Rock and Roll, this film promises a woman’s perspective on what appears to be a “predatory” relationship. We didn’t get much of that angle in Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis.”

When the news of Elordi’s casting first broke, some skeptics doubted his ability to portray Elvis. However, Coppola dismissed those concerns and assured Vogue, “I thought nobody was gonna look quite like Elvis, but Jacob has that same type of magnetism. He’s so charismatic, and girls go crazy around him, so I knew he could pull off playing this type of romantic icon. But we’re talking before we’ve even started filming, so I can’t get too deep into it.”

The trailer is set to be released tomorrow, and we’ll soon be able to judge for ourselves.
