Texas Festival Shooting Leaves 3 Dead and 8 Injured

Tragedy unfolded in a neighborhood in Texas as three individuals lost their lives and eight others sustained injuries when shots were fired into a crowd of hundreds following a festival. According to authorities, the incident occurred around 11:47 pm on Monday in the Como neighborhood of Fort Worth. As chaos ensued and gunshots echoed through the air, people desperately tried to flee on foot and in vehicles. The shooting took place shortly after the conclusion of an Independence Day celebration known as ComoFest, held in this historically Black community.

The Mayor of Fort Worth, Mattie Parker, expressed devastation upon learning about the shooting. In a tweet, she said, “My heart breaks for the victims, their loved ones, and the entire Como community that actively works towards fostering positivity and celebration in their neighborhood and our city.” Police reported that responding officers discovered multiple victims in a parking lot, one of whom was pronounced dead at the scene. The remaining victims were either transported to hospitals via ambulance or private vehicles. Among the eleven victims, one is a juvenile. As of Tuesday, no arrests have been made, and it remains unclear how many individuals were involved in the shooting.
