The prosecution in Kevin Spacey’s trial for sexual assault revealed in court that the actor’s “preferred method of assault” is to aggressively grab men in the crotch, as reported by Sky News.
A well-known American actor, Spacey is facing trial in the UK based on allegations made by four men who claim to have been sexually assaulted by him. These incidents allegedly occurred during the years he spent working at the Old Vic theatre in London.
The actor, who has won two Oscars for his performances in “American Beauty” (2000) and “The Usual Suspects” (1996), has categorically denied all 12 charges brought against him, including sexual assault and engaging in penetrative sexual activity without consent. The most severe charge carries a possible life imprisonment sentence.
According to Sky News, the alleged victims described Spacey as a “sexual bully” who derives pleasure from making others feel powerless and uncomfortable. They recounted instances of forceful grabbing and groping, with one victim waking up to find Spacey performing oral sex on him.
Two of the victims, who were in their 20s or 30s at the time of the incidents, emphasized the physical force exerted by Spacey. One claimed that the actor’s strong grip in a car nearly caused an accident, while another stated that Spacey’s grip on his penis was extremely painful.
The prosecution also asserted that Spacey becomes aroused by eliciting anger in his victims.
During the trial, Christine Agnew, the prosecutor, portrayed Spacey as both a celebrated actor and a man who sexually assaults other men. She highlighted that none of the victims desired any form of sexual contact with the defendant, but Spacey acted solely for his own gratification.
Patrick Gibbs KC, the lawyer representing Spacey, adamantly stated, “Each of these allegations of non-consensual sexual conduct is completely denied,” according to Reuters. Gibbs affirmed that Spacey returned to the UK as promised to confront the accusations and provide a full account of what actually occurred, dispelling any rumors or speculation.
The trial is expected to last approximately four weeks.
