June 30 (UPI) — Olivia Rodrigo has made a comeback with new music.
The talented 20-year-old singer and actress debuted her single and music video for the track “Vampire” on Friday.
The “Vampire” video starts with Rodrigo performing in a nighttime field. The camera zooms out to reveal that she is actually on stage at an awards show. After a falling light leaves her wounded, Rodrigo escapes from security and runs off into the night.
“Vampire” is accompanied by a video I created with my incredibly talented friend @petrafcollins. I co-wrote the song with my wonderful friend @dan_nigro last winter,” Rodrigo shared on Instagram.
“Writing this song helped me process feelings of regret, anger, and heartache. It’s one of my favorite songs on the album and it was a cathartic experience to complete it,” she added. “I’m ecstatic that it’s now in your hands, and I hope it helps you deal with any ‘bloodsuckers’ in your life. Thank you endlessly.”
“Vampire” marks Rodrigo’s first release of 2023 and her first new song in two years.
The track is featured on her upcoming second studio album, titled Guts. The complete album will be released on September 8th.
In May 2021, Rodrigo gained fame with her debut album, Sour, which included the chart-topping hits “Drivers License,” “Deja Vu,” and “Good 4 U.”
