A search is currently underway on Sunday for two armed suspects who sprinted through a bustling Little Tokyo marketplace after a pursuit with the Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies that resulted in two car crashes.
Authorities have already apprehended two other suspects at the scene.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department took over the pursuit from Gardena police at around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, as reported by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Veronica Fantom.
Deputies were able to identify the car from a previous police chase in the Glendale area earlier in the week, according to Fox11.
The fleeing white sedan, believed to be a Mercedes-Benz, led the deputies northbound on the Harbor (110) Freeway before exiting in downtown L.A. and colliding with another car at the intersection of First Street and Central Avenue.
Videos captured the sedan also crashing into a Volkswagen Beetle, while at least three suspects fled from the car.
Two of the suspects fled into the Japanese Village Plaza, prompting deputies to establish a perimeter for their search, Fantom stated.
The presence of the fleeing suspects caused chaos in the Little Tokyo marketplace, with panicked customers seen running to safety.
No injuries have been reported from the incident.
