June 27 (UPI) — In a historic display of dominance, LSU emerged as champions of the College World Series with an incredible 18-4 victory over Florida. This victory margin is the largest ever seen in a College World Series final, securing the Tigers’ seventh title.
The Tigers’ offense was on fire, with Tommy White, Jordan Thompson, and Brayden Jobert each driving in three runs. Additionally, Jobert and outfielder Josh Pearson hit powerful home runs that contributed to the team’s remarkable display of strength on the field. LSU’s starting pitcher, Thatcher Hurd, was also exceptional, allowing only two hits and two runs over six innings to secure the victory.

Pearson’s two-run homer in the fourth inning expanded LSU’s advantage, bringing the scoreline to 11-2 after a bases-loaded walk in the seventh. Despite the efforts of Gators outfielder Ty Evans and infielder Cade Kurland, who both hit solo home runs, the Tigers continued to dominate, adding three more runs in the eighth and four in the ninth inning, solidifying their record-breaking victory.
With this 14-run victory, LSU surpassed Rice’s previous record of a 14-2 triumph over Stanford in 2003, cementing their place in history as an unstoppable force in college baseball.
