A 47-year-old individual has been apprehended for allegedly brandishing a handgun towards a woman at a restaurant in Long Beach on Sunday morning. Furthermore, the suspect irresponsibly discharged the weapon while under the influence of alcohol, as stated by authorities.
The incident occurred when the woman was seated at the bar in the 6300 block of East Pacific Coast Highway. The suspect proceeded to inappropriately touch her arm, prompting the victim to express her discomfort. In response, the suspect openly displayed his firearm, which was then concealed back into his waistband before leaving the premises. The Long Beach Police Department swiftly dispatched officers to the scene at approximately 12:55 a.m. on Sunday.
By 1:10 a.m., officers received another urgent call regarding a shooting incident, but no one was harmed. The location was identified as the 7100 block of Marina Pacifica Drive, where law enforcement encountered a suspect matching the description provided by a witness.
The police statement revealed, “The suspect was apprehended, and a firearm was discovered in his possession. It was evident that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol.”
The diligent officers collected relevant evidence such as casings and strike marks to support the investigation.
Upon further examination, it was confirmed that the suspect targeted at the restaurant was indeed the same individual. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during both incidents.
The arrested suspect, Roberto Morsquera, faces charges including exhibiting a firearm in a threatening manner, sexual battery, public intoxication, and discharging a firearm negligently. Bail has been set at $25,000.
