Passenger on Airplane Displays ‘the Patriot’ Movie on Overhead Bins

  • A traveler shared a TikTok video of another passenger using a projector to screen “The Patriot” on the plane’s overhead bins.
  • This incident occurred on a flight that did not offer in-flight entertainment.
  • Reactions on social media varied, with even the TSA joining in on the joke.

On a flight lacking entertainment options, one passenger took matters into their own hands.

According to a TikTok video shared by traveler Douglas Lazickirk, a man used a small projector to screen the movie “The Patriot” onto the overhead bins across from him.

“Everything was normal. The flight was actually quite full,” Lazickirk, a 29-year-old, told “Today.” “And then, I looked up, and there’s this projector screen playing a couple of seats in front of me.”

Lazickirk mentioned that this impromptu movie screening, complete with subtitles, occurred on a flight from Athens, Greece, to Singapore that lacked in-flight entertainment. The airline involved in the incident remains unknown.

Lazickirk did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.

Lazickirk, who has visited 145 countries according to his Instagram bio, stated that none of the crew members or passengers complained, and some even watched the movie from their seats.

The video gained attention after being reposted on the TSA’s Instagram account. Known for sharing dad jokes and wild travel stories, the TSA used the incident to remind travelers about the rules for packing large electronics. While Lazickirk mentioned that the passengers on the flight didn’t seem to have a problem, social media users who saw it second-hand had mixed opinions.

Hundreds of viewers took to the comments to praise the resourcefulness of the passenger, referring to them as a “hero” who provided entertainment during the long flight. Even Delta Vacations’ Instagram account joined in, commenting that “sharing is caring.”

However, other social media users were not as enthusiastic about the makeshift movie theater. Some questioned whether projectors were allowed, while others criticized it as inconsiderate.

In response to comments on the TSA’s post, Lazickirk stated that because the subtitles were on, “everyone was loving it.”
