  • Tourists aboard the missing submersible, the Titan, are engrossed in a book about the Titanic.
  • According to OceanGate’s Instagram account, passengers were provided with the book “Titanic Remembrance” to read during their voyage.
  • Efforts to locate OceanGate’s Titan vessel, which lost communication on Sunday, are ongoing.

Tourists aboard OceanGate’s missing submersible en route to the Titanic are immersing themselves in a book that recounts the final moments of the historic shipwreck.

In a recent Instagram post by OceanGate, it was revealed that passengers on this year’s Titanic expedition were provided with the book “Titanic Remembrance” to read. The book vividly portrays the experiences of the Titanic’s victims and survivors, delving into the last hours of those aboard the ill-fated ship.

On Sunday, the submersible vessel named Titan, owned by OceanGate Expeditions, went missing. The vessel, which intended to offer passengers a close-up view of the Titanic shipwreck, lost communication less than two hours into its journey.

In a March 24 Instagram post, OceanGate revealed a detail about the passengers’ onboard reading material.

“We’re thrilled to have Cathy Lamet’s new book, ‘Titanic Remembrance,’ on this year’s expedition!” the caption stated. “All the proceeds from the book will be donated to Titanic Societies worldwide for the preservation of Titanic graves and memorials.”

The book, authored by Cathy Lamet, provides insights into the lives of the Titanic’s passengers.

“For some, their lives would tragically end on that fateful night,” wrote Lemet in the book’s bio. “For others, they would survive after enduring unimaginable physical and emotional torment, and they would strive to carry on with their lives as best they could.”

Rescue officials from Canada and the US reported hearing new “banging” sounds underwater on Wednesday, but the Titan vessel has not yet been located.

Tourists paid $250,000 for the opportunity to venture into the depths of the ocean, reaching a depth of approximately 13,123 feet.

Among the passengers on board are the founder and pilot of the vessel company, a British billionaire, one of Pakistan’s wealthiest individuals and his son, as well as a renowned French Titanic expert known as “Mr. Titanic.”
