Roblox announced on Tuesday that eligible creators now have the opportunity to construct experiences catering to users aged 17 and older, encompassing mature content and intricate storylines.
This announcement follows Roblox’s previous declaration detailing their commitment to providing age-appropriate experiences for users from all walks of life. Notably, individuals aged 17 to 24 constitute 22% of Roblox’s flourishing community, with a staggering 35% year-over-year increase in daily active users within this age range during the first quarter of the company’s operation.
As a part of their latest unveilings, Roblox grants older users access to content that may incorporate elements of violence, romantic themes, depictions of blood and alcohol, moderately crude humor, and unplayable gambling.
Previously, Roblox endorsed experiences tailored for users aged nine and above, users aged 13 and above, and some with no age restrictions. The company plans to roll out the new offerings exclusive to users aged 17 and above in the upcoming weeks.
Verification of age through Roblox’s system is requisite for users who wish to create or view the mature content. The process involves submitting a selfie alongside a photo of their government-issued identification. Additionally, parents possess the capability to restrict their children’s access to specific experiences through Roblox’s effective parental controls.
Roblox’s stock has witnessed a remarkable surge of approximately 44% year-to-date, surpassing the Nasdaq’s overall growth of roughly 31% within the same timeframe.
