Originally from Voorheesville, Freeman developed a love for pasta while enjoying meals with his Italian-American family in the Capital Region. His grandmother’s homemade pasta dishes were always his favorite.
However, it was a Christmas without their extended family in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic that led Freeman to pursue pasta-making as a way to experience a sense of normalcy. He recreated his family’s traditional Christmas recipes, including his grandmother’s fresh pasta. Despite the passing of his grandmother shortly after, Freeman found solace and a creative outlet in the kitchen, making fresh pasta after his daughter went to bed.
Inspired by his progress, Freeman created a TikTok account, @DannyLovesPasta, to document his journey into the world of fresh pasta-making. He experimented with unique shapes and colors, deviating from traditional dishes and embracing his artistic side. His social media audience responded enthusiastically to his vibrant creations made with natural ingredients, earning him recognition for his innovation.
Freeman’s dedication to his craft extends to his upcoming cookbook, “Danny Loves Pasta,” set to release on June 27th. This colorful and intimate book not only provides recipes for fresh pasta and sauces but also guides readers on creating their own distinctive colors and shapes.
