Racing Through the Tower of London to Serve Takeaway Drivers

A young woman named Megan Clawson, residing in the iconic Tower of London with her father, who happens to be a Beefeater, has shared her unique experiences of being mistaken for a princess and facing challenges when it comes to takeaway deliveries due to the confusing layout of the tourist attraction. Megan, aged 23, spent the lockdown period in 2020 with her father Chris, aged 54, who earned the esteemed position as one of the 32 Yeoman Wardens in 2018. This position allows them to live in a comfortable two-bedroom house within the Tower’s grounds.

Megan gained popularity on social media platforms, particularly TikTok, where she documents her fairytale-like life. Her posts went viral, leading her to write a fictional romance novel set in the Tower of London. Living within such a historically significant location, which has served as a prison in the past, presents Megan with various challenges. She often finds herself mistaken for a princess by confused tourists, and dealing with the logistical difficulties of receiving online deliveries.

In an interview with The Sun, Megan shared the intricacies of living in a historic castle. She explained that when she orders a takeaway, she has to race across the expansive grounds to locate the delivery driver at the appropriate entrance. Adding to the fairytale feel, Megan has to inform the guards if she plans to stay out past midnight, ensuring that they await her arrival to let her in.

Apart from these quirks, Megan has also had to get used to curious tourists who, due to their proximity, can see straight into her bedroom. This meant that she had to quickly invest in curtains for privacy. Nevertheless, Megan has grown to appreciate the daily conversations and interactions with people from around the world, as they marvel at her unique home.

Megan initially moved into the Tower with her father during the Covid lockdown as a result of feeling homesick while studying at King’s College, London. Although she would occasionally bring her laundry to the Tower, she desired a more consistent connection to her family, which her living arrangement provided. With the Tower closed to the public at that time, Megan found a peaceful environment to write her dissertation, surrounded by a small community and the famous ravens.

Megan acknowledges that when discussing her living situation, she simply mentions “Tower Hill” to avoid appearing boastful. However, once her friends discover the truth, they generally take it in stride. She explains that many families reside in the Tower, and she often socializes with fellow residents at a private pub called The Keys, located within the attraction.

In addition to her unique living situation, Megan is also active in the entertainment industry, working as a TV extra. She has also built a significant following on TikTok, boasting 310,700 followers. Alongside her online presence, Megan has published a book titled “Falling Hard for the Royal Guard,” a romantic tale that takes place within the Tower of London. The book is now available to readers, offering an imaginative experience of finding love amidst the historical grandeur of the Tower.
