The Pretenders Surprise Fans with Impromptu Glastonbury Performance

Chrissie Hynde and The Pretenders have taken the music world by surprise with an unexpected announcement: they will be performing at Glastonbury this weekend. Scheduled to take the stage at The Park Stage on Saturday at 7.45pm, the legendary rock band has hinted that they will be joined by some special guests for their electrifying performance at Worthy Farm. Previously listed as “TBA”, their slot comes right before electronic duo Leftfield and DJ Fatboy Slim, creating an exciting line-up.

Chrissie Hynde, the lead singer of The Pretenders, expressed her excitement about performing at the festival, saying, “Glastonbury has always been an integral part of our lives. There is simply no other festival quite like it.” Known for its iconic status, Glastonbury Festival will take place in Pilton, Somerset, from Wednesday to Sunday, with remarkable headliners such as Arctic Monkeys, Guns N’ Roses, and Sir Elton John.

Prior to The Pretenders’ performance, the park stage will come alive with the sounds of Tinariwen, a group of Tuareg musicians, who will take the stage at 6.15pm. The rock group will be performing at the same time as the sensational Lizzo, who will captivate the audience on the Pyramid Stage from 7.30pm. Meanwhile, Eurovision winners Maneskin will bring their energetic performance to the Woodsies Stage from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.

Saturday’s line-up includes an impressive array of artists such as Lewis Capaldi, Lana Del Rey, Christine And The Queens, Rina Sawayama, Loyle Carner, Mahalia, and Rick Astley. It’s going to be a day filled with musical wonders.

But The Pretenders’ festival appearances do not stop there. On June 30, they will be gracing the stage at London’s BST Hyde Park as special guests to Guns N’ Roses. Moreover, fans can look forward to their upcoming studio album, “Relentless,” set to be released in September. The album will feature their new song, “I Think About You Daily,” which was partly arranged by the talented composer Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead.

With iconic hits like “I’ll Stand By You” and “Don’t Get Me Wrong,” The Pretenders have been rocking the music scene since the 1970s. Their incredible journey has been acknowledged by their induction into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005, solidifying their status as true legends of rock.
