The Devon and Cornwall Police unveiled the tractor at the Devon County Show. According to the police department, the tractor has been added to enhance rural engagement. Reuben, the four-year-old winner of the competition, beat over 500 entries to come up with the winning name. The police force announced Optimus Crime as the official name on their Facebook page, where they also invited Reuben and his family to an event for the official announcement.
This tractor, which is on loan to the police department, adds to their existing tractor named Robo Crop. Constable Clarke Orchard mentioned that children often asked for the name of the tractor, leading them to seek suggestions from the community. Facebook users were delighted with the name Optimus Crime, praising Reuben for choosing it. However, some users questioned the practicality of using a tractor for crime-fighting purposes.
