Royals Celebrate Father’s Day by Sharing a Variety of Family Photos

It was a truly remarkable day for the fathers in the royal family. On Father’s Day, both King Charles, aged 74, and his son Prince William, aged 40, shared a delightful collection of family photographs on their respective social media accounts. The official Twitter account of the Royal Family posted three photos showcasing three generations. One captured King Charles sharing a laugh with his late father, Prince Philip. Another displayed Queen Camilla smiling alongside her late father, Bruce Shand. And, in a heartfelt tribute, the account included a photo of King Charles with his two sons, Prince Harry and Prince William, from their younger years, despite their ongoing family drama. The caption for the post read, “To Dads everywhere, we wish you a very special Father’s Day today.”

Prince William took a different approach on his own official social media account by sharing two sweet snapshots of himself happily posing with his three children, Prince George (9), Princess Charlotte (8), and Prince Louis (5). King Charles also paid tribute to his two sons, Prince Harry and Prince William, by including a photo of them in his own Father’s Day tribute.

Notably, Kate Middleton, aged 41, was not present in the photos taken by royal portrait photographer Millie Pilkington. The children were all dressed in matching blue outfits, with the youngest, Prince Louis, embracing his dad in a bear hug. The caption on the post read, “Happy Father’s Day ❤️.”

According to The Mirror, Prince William’s photos also contained a subtle homage to the late Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away at the age of 96 last September. The picture, taken at Frogmore House in Windsor, showed the family sitting on a bench that was a gift to the late monarch for her 90th birthday in 2016.

King Charles’ collection of photos also included a picture of his wife, Queen Camilla, and her late father. Queen Camilla had reigned for 70 years at the time of her passing. Adding to the festivities of Father’s Day, the family and the public celebrated King Charles’ 75th birthday with a parade called “Trooping the Colour.”

Although the monarch’s actual birthday is on November 14th, the parade is a time-honored tradition held at the beginning of summer to enjoy the beautiful weather. King Charles rode on horseback during the parade, dressed in his military uniform, while Prince William and his sister Princess Anne and brother Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, rode behind him. Queen Camilla and Middleton traveled in a horse-drawn carriage alongside her three children.

This weekend also marked a grand celebration as the family united for the King’s birthday. Prince Louis, the youngest member, once again stole the show during the parade. He entertained the crowd with funny faces and saluted the onlookers as the family gathered on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to witness a flypast.

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle were not present at the birthday events. Although Prince Harry attended his father’s coronation ceremony, he stayed in the United Kingdom for less than 24 hours, rushing back home to join his son Archie for his fourth birthday celebration.
