Chinese TikTok Exposes Preschool Engaged in Unconventional Dishwashing Method

  • A worker at a preschool was caught washing dishes in a urinal.
  • Chinese users were outraged and concerned about the safety of students at the school.
  • “This one has been exposed, but there are dirtier and more terrifying ones that haven’t been shown,” one user said.

A woman working at a preschool was caught washing dishes in a urinal trough on China’s equivalent of TikTok, sparking widespread concern among internet users.

In a video posted on Douyin on June 7, a woman was filmed washing metal plates in a urinal. The incident took place at Sunshine Kindergarten in Jiangxi province, located in southeastern China, as reported by the South China Morning Post, citing state-owned newspaper The Paper.

The woman, identified as a staff member at the preschool, was seen squatting down and using a hose to rinse plates in the urinal. Following an investigation by authorities, the preschool was shut down, and further actions were taken against the staff member and school’s managers, according to a statement released by officials.

Upon viewing the video on Douyin, Chinese users expressed outrage over the concerning lack of hygiene at the school.

“This one has been exposed, but there are even more disturbing incidents that have not come to light,” commented one user.

“How can someone be so heartless? Where were the school authorities? How was she allowed to do this?” questioned another user.

One user called for severe punishment for the employees of the preschool, stating, “A school like this should be immediately closed, and the school leaders and staff involved should be sentenced to more than 20 years. It’s incredibly disgusting.”

China’s Food Safety Law requires “food operators” to follow food safety regulations, regularly inspect food inventory, and promptly address any expired or deteriorated food items. However, the law does not specify where dishes should be washed.

This incident is not the first in which workers at Chinese schools have disregarded the well-being of young children. In 2018, a preschool in Anhui province served rotten sausages to children, as reported by the state-owned news site China Daily. Similarly, a high school in Chengdu, located in southwestern China, was found to have stored moldy bread and decaying meat in its canteen for multiple years, as reported by the BBC.

Insider reached out to China’s Ministry of Education for comment but did not receive an immediate response.
