Honolulu Pandemic Hotline to Terminate Services on April 14

The City and County of Honolulu announced today that its pandemic hotline, which has been in operation for over three years, will be closing down on April 14. Moving forward, community members who seek information about city services should call the Department of Customer Services at 808-768-CITY (2489) between April 15 and 28. After April 28, the hotline will only be activated in case of emergencies, such as hurricanes or other disasters.

Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi expressed his gratitude for the hotline’s service, stating, “The pandemic hotline has been a beacon of support throughout these challenging times. From its humble beginnings with City employees eager to assist, it has become an essential resource, handling over 100,000 calls and emails. The call center has been invaluable in keeping the City informed on the needs of families, community groups, and small businesses during the pandemic.”

Under former Mayor Kirk Caldwell, the pandemic hotline and a COVID response email address were established on March 23, 2020, to provide Oahu residents with accurate information. The hotline received an overwhelming response on its first day, with over 2,400 calls. It quickly became the go-to source for reliable information on COVID-19, government regulations, travel restrictions, and relief programs offered by the city, state, and other organizations.

In addition to the hotline, the public can also visit the city’s 311 website or use the 311 mobile app to report non-urgent issues.
