Shannon compared the film to someone playing with action figures and said, “It’s not quite the in-depth character study situation that I honestly felt ‘Man of Steel’ was.” However, Shannon acknowledged that “The Flash” isn’t a character study situation and he’s only there to present a challenge.
Shannon also explained that he didn’t feel comfortable working on the film without getting permission from Zack Snyder. He reached out to Snyder, who gave him his blessing and said, “It’s okay. You can do it.” However, Shannon’s experience on set was different this time around as he was only in and out of “The Flash” in a flash, like two or three weeks, compared to the six months he trained before shooting “Man of Steel.”
Although Shannon’s comments may disappoint some fans, they highlight the challenges of adapting comic book characters to the big screen. While the DC multiverse allows for exciting storytelling possibilities, it also requires a delicate balancing act to ensure that each character receives proper treatment.
