San Diego Resident Proclaims Himself as the Sultan of Slowjamastan, a Micronation

Randy Williams, a resident of San Diego, has an unwavering love for slow jams to the point where he founded his own micronation, which he named Slowjamastan. In an interview with CNN, Williams mentioned that he had visited all the United Nations-recognized countries in the world, and since he had run out of new territories to explore, he decided to create his own. Slowjamastan is an 11.07-acre desert plot located off Southern California’s Route 78 and has been declared a sovereign state as per CNN. Williams has even given it its own national anthem, flag, currency, and time zone (Slowjamastan Standard Time). The micronation consists of 12 states, and Dublândia is its capital, but it’s currently a dictatorship, with over 5,000 registered Slowjamastanis. The “Slowjamastan Laws, Statutes, and Regulations” exist to govern the nation, including a rule that Crocs aren’t allowed. The Republic of Slowjamastan’s independence may not be formally recognized by any other country or leader, but that has not stopped Williams from dreaming big. Slowjamastan’s creator wants to construct a grand palace for himself and his harem in the future and is currently considering building a lazy river, an interactive armadillo farm, and an all-you-can-eat Mongolian restaurant. Although all these developments are just dreams for now, Williams is optimistic. He spends most of his time working as a radio DJ at San Diego stations but visits his pride and joy, Slowjamastan, as often as he can.
