Grand Teton National Park officials are investigating an incident where two individuals were seen “harassing” a bison calf on June 4. The individuals approached and touched the calf in the Elk Ranch Flats area of the park, which can result in the rejection of calves by their herd. However, the calf was successfully reunited with its herd. Rangers are currently looking for information about the suspects, and park officials have urged visitors to view wildlife safely and responsibly, maintaining a safe distance and not teasing or intentionally disturbing animals. The incident comes after a man recently pleaded guilty to intentionally disturbing wildlife at Yellowstone National Park by picking up a newborn bison calf, leading to it being euthanized. Visitors are reminded that getting too close to wildlife can lead to endangerment and negative impacts on the animals and people.
