A woman from central Florida has been charged with arson and child neglect after allegedly leaving her two children in a car while shoplifting in a mall. Alicia Moore, 24, was arrested following a blaze in Oviedo that resulted in one child suffering first-degree burns. Moore is said to have left her children unattended in the car for an hour as she shoplifted in a Dillard’s department store with an unidentified man. On exiting the Oviedo Mall, she saw the car “engulfed in flames” and dropped the merchandise before fleeing. The children were rescued by bystanders and taken to hospital. Moore was later arrested on an outstanding warrant and charged with arson. She is being held on $48,000 bond for the aggravated child neglect and arson charges, as well as for unrelated charges including petit theft, battery, and assault.
