Kevin Maginnis, a Nashville resident, took on a fascinating challenge when he decided to consume only McDonald’s food for a straight 100 days to shed some pounds. He managed to lose 58.5 pounds and reached his goal of losing 50 pounds by the end of the 100-day period. Maginnis shared his journey on TikTok, where he chronicled his daily fast-food orders. He opted for half portions of McDonald’s menu items for each meal. On day one, he weighed 238 pounds, and on day 100, he weighed 179.5 pounds.
To celebrate his remarkable achievement, Maginnis appeared on the Today show, where he shared his experience and journey with millions of viewers. He also shared some of the blood work results which amazingly showed that his triglycerides dropped by 205 points, his cholesterol was down by 65 points, and that his sugars were currently in a “healthy” range, which is nothing less than impressive.
Maginnis stated that he had already tasted the whole McDonald’s menu, including burgers such as the Big Mac and Quarter Pounders, though he had excluded soda and other sugary snacks. He further added that he did not snack between meals, nor did he work out or exercise at all during the 100-day challenge.
Maginnis stuck to his promise and waited for his hunger pang to “seek the heat before he eats,” maintaining his body’s fat-burning process even when he wasn’t actively consuming food. Despite some critics’ opinions who believed that eating only fast food would impact his well-being, Maginnis showcased his blood work results to prove his critics wrong.
Maginnis also pointed out that he does not have a partnership with McDonald’s. Instead, he embarked on the challenge alone because he believes that weight loss is possible with any type of food and that one should stop vilifying food. Maginnis’ next self-imposed test will be to climb a 100-foot rope in 100 days.
