Apple created a buzz with its $3,499 Vision Zero mixed-reality headset announcement at the Worldwide Developers Conference. Along with this VR gear, Apple announced several features that will be added to its iOS 17 operating system when it launches officially in September, including:
FaceTime Voice messages
This feature will allow users to leave video voice messages for FaceTime contacts who miss their calls. The recipient will receive a notification and can replay the message whenever they want.
Autocorrect improvements
iOS 17 will include a more advanced language model, with improved word prediction abilities, which will power the autocorrect feature. Inline predictive text recommendations will appear on users’ screens as they type, allowing them to complete words and sentences more easily.
Live voicemail transcription
This feature provides a real-time transcription of incoming voicemails on the iPhone lock screen, allowing users to preview the message before they answer the call.
Live stickers
Users can create stickers from their family, friends, and pets with the new customized sticker feature. They can also add various effects such as outline, comic, puffy, and shiny and share them easily in chats using the new sticker drawer.
Tap-to-share features
A new feature called “NameDrop” allows contact information to be shared between iPhones or between an iPhone and an Apple Watch. The same tap-to-share gesture allows easy sharing of music, videos, and other content between Apple devices.
