In a shocking turn of events, three individuals have been arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with the tragic shooting of 26-year-old Jared Jackson on November 12th. The Arlington Police Department revealed this development in a news release on Tuesday.
The suspects, Brenton Smith, 23, Jaka Livingston, 17, and Ahmed Osman, 19, were apprehended by the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force and subsequently booked into the Arlington City Jail before being transferred to the Tarrant County Jail.
The fatal shooting took place at an apartment complex on West Arkansas Lane, where Jackson was found fatally wounded. Initial speculation led authorities to believe that the incident was linked to higher-risk activities.
The arrest warrant affidavit suggests that the suspects had attempted to extort drugs or money from Jackson, leading to a confrontation at his residence. Ultimately, the dispute escalated into a violent exchange, resulting in Jackson being shot multiple times. Shockingly, the suspects allegedly decided to rob Jackson after fatally shooting him, even going as far as stealing his handgun as they fled the scene.
Notably, one of the suspects, Jaka Livingston, has a prior criminal record, having been arrested multiple times for offenses such as aggravated robbery, burglary, and evading arrest. Similarly, Brenton Smith and Ahmed Osman have had previous run-ins with the law for offenses including unlawful carrying of a weapon, possession of marijuana, evading arrest, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Despite their checkered past, none of the suspects have prior convictions. However, the severity of their alleged involvement in Jared Jackson’s tragic demise has led to their arrest and capital murder charges.
