An individual, aged 29 years, who is suspected of committing assault with a potentially lethal weapon during a domestic altercation in Moreno Valley on Monday, has been apprehended.
The incident took place in the 16000 block of Kensington Place, close to Parkside Lane, at approximately 9:27 a.m., according to statements made by Sgt. Alfredo Medina of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
When officers arrived at the scene, all individuals involved, with the exception of the suspect, Gerardo Martin, were outside the residence. Medina revealed that during the preliminary investigation, it became apparent that Martin had previously threatened the victim with a shotgun on Saturday, just two days before he made another threat on Monday.
On Monday, the victim reported to dispatch that Martin was causing damage to property within the residence and was armed with a shotgun. Medina stated that the victim felt in immediate danger and believed that Martin intended to shoot him, based on the previous threat made with a gun two days prior.
Given Martin’s previous behavior, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau swiftly responded to the residence and executed a search warrant.
Martin was taken into custody and subsequently booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, as confirmed by Medina. The investigation is currently ongoing.
