2024 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid: Meet the Stylish Nightshade Brigade Addition

Toyota brings back the Nightshade Edition to the Corolla lineup for the 2024 model year, following a hiatus in 2023. Notably, the 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid will also have the option to sport the Nightshade treatment, with the automaker introducing the SE trim for this subcompact crossover. This means that the Corolla Cross Hybrid can now be blacked out or adorned with one of Toyota’s expanding range of two-tone combinations. The Nightshade package for the Corolla Cross Hybrid mirrors the specifications of its sedan and hatchback counterparts, with the blacked-out grille, rear bumper, side mirror caps, and badges. Additionally, the vehicle features a black spoiler atop the hatch and black accents on the primary exterior lighting units. The main exterior distinction lies in the 18-inch black sport alloys that the Corolla Cross Nightshade rides on, as opposed to the 18-inch bronze alloys on the Corolla Nightshade sedan and hatch.

The exterior color options for the Cross include Jet Black or the two-tone variants of Barcelona Red with a Jet Black roof, or Celestite Gray with a Jet Black roof. However, the Corolla sedan and hatch do not offer two-color options.

Moving inside the Corolla Cross Hybrid Nightshade, one will find black and red fabric with red accent stitching. The vehicle also boasts some additional standard equipment such as a frameless Homelink rear-view mirror, carpeted floor mats, and a wireless charging pad. Interestingly, the Corolla Cross Hybrid SE without the Nightshade package, as well as the XSE trims, also come equipped with the wireless charging pad. Only the base S trim lacks the convenience of over-the-air recharging.

Although the Nightshade treatment is available for both the non-hybrid and hybrid engines of the Corolla sedan and hatch, Toyota’s announcement does not mention the non-hybrid Corolla Cross. This omission may lead some prospective Corolla Cross buyers to feel a bit disappointed.

The 2024 Corolla Cross Hybrid range is expected to arrive at dealerships before the end of the year, and pricing details are yet to be announced. It is worth noting that the Nightshade package for the Corolla sedan and hatch adds $1,000 to the overall cost. Given Toyota’s tendency to impose a premium for its special red colors and two-tone combinations, it is possible that the Corolla Cross Hybrid with the Nightshade package may incur a slightly higher price.
