Additionally, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Aaron Jones, Tua Tagovailoa, and Trevor Lawrence secure spots within the top 10 selections. Keep in mind that Mahomes and Allen will likely be chosen early in the fantasy draft due to their high cost. Therefore, factors such as average draft position, injury history, expected and past production, and strength of schedule should be considered when making your final decision on a quarterback. I have categorized my top picks into five tiers: Hall of Fame, All-Pro, Pro Bowl, Just Napping (early to mid-round targets), and Deep Sleepers (mid- to late-round sleepers). Joe Burrow proved himself as one of the most promising fantasy quarterbacks last season and I anticipate an even more impressive showing from him in 2023. With an outstanding trio of wide receivers in Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Tyler Boyd, along with notable improvements to their offensive line, the Bengals offer Burrow the support he needs to succeed. Last season, he recorded a career-high of 35 touchdown passes in just 16 starts, and I believe he has the potential to surpass the 40-touchdown mark in the upcoming season. Additionally, Burrow has a good chance of throwing for nearly 5,000 passing yards.
Justin Herbert stands as one of my personal favorites for the 2023 fantasy football season. Despite throwing only 25 touchdown passes last season, he surpassed 4,700 passing yards for the second consecutive year. The Los Angeles Chargers boast a talented set of offensive playmakers and a favorable schedule for fantasy football. With these factors in mind, I expect Herbert’s touchdown passes to exceed 35 this season, along with a likelihood of reaching close to 5,000 passing yards.

The four quarterbacks in the All-Pro category possess exceptional arm talent and possess the ability to dominate defenses while on the run. Justin Fields, my fourth-ranked fantasy football quarterback, showcased his prowess by throwing 17 touchdown passes and rushing for over 1,100 yards and eight scores in the previous season. With a fantasy-friendly schedule and offensive improvements, Fields is expected to continue using his playmaking abilities to contribute significantly to the Chicago Bears’ success. While his playing style may make him susceptible to injuries, he remains an excellent fantasy football option when healthy and has the potential to be the top choice at the position multiple times this season.
Jalen Hurts benefits from being surrounded by an array of fantastic playmakers in the Philadelphia Eagles. With wide receivers A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith as his targets, Hurts efficiently threw 22 touchdowns and just six interceptions over 15 starts in the previous season. In addition to his passing abilities, Hurts also boasts a strong rushing game, accumulating 760 yards and 13 touchdowns. With the Eagles’ excellent offensive line and weapons, I expect Hurts to register close to 40 total touchdowns and secure the fifth spot in my rankings.

Aaron Rodgers, now with the New York Jets, remains a popular choice for many fantasy football teams due to his past production and new team. Although his performance in 2022 was lackluster, I anticipate a rebound for the former Green Bay Packers star. While he may not reach MVP-level production, Rodgers is predicted to throw for a minimum of 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns, allowing him to achieve low-end QB1 status in fantasy football.
Tua Tagovailoa demonstrated his capability for elite QB1 production last season when he entered the NFL MVP conversation from Week 8 to Week 10. Although concerns about his ability to stay healthy persist, there is no denying his potential when on the field for the Miami Dolphins. The team possesses a strong wide receiver duo in Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, and is led by offensive-minded head coach Mike McDaniel. It is expected that the Dolphins will focus more on balancing their offense in 2023, incorporating a greater emphasis on the run game, which will provide additional fantasy football scoring opportunities. Tagovailoa is projected to throw at least 30 touchdown passes and accumulate close to 4,000 passing yards.
Just Napping:

Russell Wilson, who underperformed last season with the Denver Broncos, aims to bounce back from a career-low 16 touchdown passes in 15 games. With the addition of coach Sean Payton and improvements to their offensive line, Wilson is set to receive a boost. However, it is unlikely that he will consistently deliver QB1 production. Instead, he is expected to serve as a low-end, matchup-dependent play.
Geno Smith, one of the most efficient passers in the NFL last season, completes a league-best 69.8% of his throws. He also achieved a career-high of 30 touchdown passes and logged 4,282 passing yards with the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks, equipped with talented wide receivers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, and the addition of Jaxon Smith-Ngiba, offer Smith a strong offensive arsenal. It is likely that Smith will exceed 4,000 passing yards and approach 30 touchdown passes, making him a low-end QB1.
Deep Sleepers:

Recently appointed as the starting quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, Anthony Richardson, the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, possesses exceptional running skills and arm talent. However, the lack of offensive weaponry around him may lead to increased reliance on his dynamic playmaking abilities. While Richardson presents a great option for QBs in later rounds, it is recommended to add another quarterback to your roster to balance out his expected inconsistency.
Derek Carr, who joined the New Orleans Saints this offseason, is one of my preferred under-the-radar fantasy football quarterbacks. Although he may not be relied upon as a weekly starter, Carr can reach the top 10 in my weekly rankings when faced with favorable matchups. The Saints have an array of above-average playmakers, including wide receivers Chris Olave and Michael Thomas, as well as running back Jamaal Williams, who will be filling in during Alvin Kamara’s three-game suspension. Carr threw for over 4,000 yards for four consecutive seasons before his below-average 2022 campaign with the Raiders. If he starts at least 16 games, it is expected that Carr will approach those numbers once again in 2023, along with exceeding 25 touchdown passes. Consequently, he is ranked as my 20th option and serves as a great bye-week replacement.
