In a shocking incident near the city of Princeton, five officers from a drug task force were shot and wounded while executing a search warrant. Authorities have reported that the suspect has been apprehended following a prolonged standoff. Benton County Sheriff Troy Heck stated that the officers exchanged gunfire with the suspect after being confronted. The suspect, who sustained injuries, was taken into custody and is receiving medical treatment. Fortunately, the injuries sustained by the officers are not life-threatening, and they are currently receiving treatment in the hospital. The extent and cause of the suspect’s injuries have yet to be determined.
The incident unfolded on Thursday morning in Glendorado Township, just a few miles west of Princeton. The officers involved were part of the Sherburne County Drug Task Force, with three representing the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office, one from the Princeton Police Department, and one from the Elk River Police Department. While Benton County sheriff’s deputies were present, they did not sustain any injuries. Video footage from KARE-TV shows law enforcement surrounding a rural area with homes nestled among trees and farm fields. The incident occurred approximately 50 miles northwest of Minneapolis.
