The World Series Game 1 pitchers have been determined. In an exciting showdown, Texas Rangers’ Nathan Eovaldi will make his inaugural World Series start on Friday. On the opposing side, Arizona Diamondbacks’ ace Zac Gallen will also experience his first World Series start.
Eovaldi boasts a stellar 4-0 record and a remarkable 2.42 ERA this postseason. Fresh off a clutch victory in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series, a pivotal game for the Texas Rangers, Eovaldi enters this highly anticipated contest in peak form. Notably, Eovaldi also played a significant role in his team’s triumphs in the wild-card and divisional-round clinchers.
“Nate’s been well-rested and fully prepared,” commented Texas manager Bruce Bochy on Wednesday.
This is not Eovaldi’s first appearance in the Fall Classic. During the initial three games of the 2018 World Series, Eovaldi contributed as a relief pitcher when the Boston Red Sox faced off against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He showcased his skills during the relentless 18-inning third game, ultimately concluded by Max Muncy’s decisive home run.

In contrast, Gallen embarked on the playoffs with victories in the wild-card and division series. However, he encountered setbacks during the National League Championship Series against the Philadelphia Phillies, losing both of his starts. As he enters the World Series, Gallen carries a still respectable 5.24 ERA.
