A 31-year-old woman and her 2-month-old daughter, who were reportedly abducted by the woman’s husband in Lancaster, were found unharmed on Monday. However, the suspect is still on the run.
Sabrina Sanchez and her daughter Itzel Sanchez were last seen with 25-year-old Efrain Sanchez-Jiminez around noon on Sunday. The California Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert early Monday morning to aid in the search for them.
In a mid-afternoon update, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that Sanchez and Itzel had been located safely at the U.S.-Mexico border by U.S. Customs and Border Protection personnel. However, no further details about their rescue were disclosed.
Meanwhile, Sanchez-Jiminez is still at large. As of Monday afternoon, his vehicle, a silver 2007 Buick Lucerne with a Colorado license plate number AUI-X94, has not been found.
Sanchez-Jiminez is described as being 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white tank top and silver shorts.
According to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, it is believed that the victims left with the suspect out of fear for their safety. The suspect had previously committed a sexual assault against a family member.
“Suspect Sanchez has made recent threats to murder his wife and child and he is believed to be armed with a handgun. Suspect Sanchez should be considered armed and dangerous,” the department said.
