Hastings, on the south coast, has been dubbed the ‘new Brighton’ but lacks a good hotel according to my friend. That’s why I was intrigued when she mentioned the opening of Vive, a new hotel near the station in a grotty part of town. The exterior looks stylish compared to the surrounding buildings, but unfortunately, the interior is quite grim.

The hotel aims to blend the concepts of a hotel and an apartment, with a twist of industrial art deco inspired by 1960s brutalist architecture. It’s a joint venture between Jason Bull, former owner of the Ibizan hotel Es Vive, and designer Sean Cochrane.
