Usher steals the show as Super Bowl halftime performer

Usher’s Exciting Revelation: He Will Perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show

In a thrilling announcement made by the NFL and Apple Music, Usher, the beloved R&B singer, has been confirmed as the highly anticipated halftime performer. Reality star Kim Kardashian unveiled this exciting news through the opening of Usher’s “Confessions, Pt. II” music video.

“I finally have the answer to those rumors. It’s not about me. It’s about you,” states Kardashian. “You’re doing the Super Bowl.”

“Quit playing with me, man,” Usher responds humorously in the recycled clip.

Usher, whose full name is Usher Raymond, reposted the announcement on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, and his own post simply reads: “LAS VEGAS. APPLE MUSIC HALFTIME SHOW. #SBLVIII”

He describes it as the “honor of a lifetime” and a pivotal moment on his bucket list, according to a news release.

“I can’t wait to deliver a show unlike anything else my fans have seen before,” he expresses eagerly. “Thank you to the fans and everyone who made this opportunity happen. I’ll see you real soon.”

Seth Dudowsky, the NFL’s head of music, applauds Usher in a statement, promising an unforgettable halftime show.

“Usher is an iconic figure whose music has left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape. We are thrilled to have him headlining this year’s Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show,” Dudowsky declares.

Usher currently holds a residency in Las Vegas at the Park MGM, as mentioned by Kardashian in the video. She advises him that the halftime performance must differ from his ongoing show.

The Super Bowl halftime show is one of the most-watched television events each year. Rihanna’s halftime performance in February garnered the highest viewership, with over 121 million viewers, narrowly surpassing Katy Perry’s 2015 performance, as reported by Billboard.

Previous Super Bowl headliners comprise Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Prince, Janet Jackson, the Rolling Stones, and Madonna. Some years feature solo acts, while others include a group of artists, such as last year’s hip hop tribute with Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, and Mary J. Blige.

The Super Bowl will take place on Feb. 11 at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium.
