Unveiling the Startling Screech You Recently Heard

A small passenger plane from Chicago to Ohio experienced a dramatic turn of events on Friday evening when a shuttle bus collided into it at O’Hare International Airport. Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have reported that the bus struck an Air Wisconsin Bombardier CRJ-200 aircraft, which was holding around 50 people at the time. Two bus passengers were subsequently sent to the hospital, according to an article by NBC Chicago. The incident occurred around 7pm local time, as stated by the Chicago Fire Department.

Fortunately, the two hospitalized passengers are said to be in good condition, while seven others declined medical treatment on-site, as reported by CBS News. The collision resulted in damage to the nose of the plane; however, no injuries were reported among the passengers on Flight 6209. The aircraft, operated by Air Wisconsin, a regional carrier for American Airlines, was taken out of service. Eventually, the passengers were able to proceed to Dayton on another plane.

The passengers who were on board the plane during the incident are now recounting the chaotic event. One individual interviewed by CBS described the experience, stating, “We were taxiing to take off… and then you just heard a screech. It was about the equivalent of being the second person at a stoplight, and you think that it turns green, but it’s still red, and we impacted the bus.” Another passenger humorously commented on the situation to WLS, saying, “You know, I’ve had quite a few flights… and never had a crash, but I get on American Airlines and I get hit by a bus.” An investigation into the collision is currently being conducted by the FAA.
