Unmasking Serial Killer Billy Chemirmir: Justice Prevails as Prison Cellmate Takes Action

DALLAS (AP) — Texas Prison Cellmate Kills Serial Killer Accused of Murdering Older Women

A man convicted of killing two older women and suspected of murdering nearly two dozen others was found dead in his cell at a Texas prison. Billy Chemirmir, 50, was killed by his cellmate, who is serving a sentence for murder. Additional details about the assailant and the cause of death have not been released.

Chemirmir targeted older women in the Dallas area for two years, killing them and stealing their valuables. His crimes were uncovered when a 91-year-old woman who survived an attack in 2018 reported him to the police. Chemirmir was apprehended with jewelry and cash, and evidence found in a discarded jewelry box led investigators to the home of one of his victims.

Chemirmir faced multiple trials for his crimes. The first trial ended in a mistrial, but he was later convicted for the murder of Lu Thi Harris, 81, and Mary Brooks, 87, in separate trials.

During the sentencing, family members of Chemirmir’s victims confronted him. In a victim impact statement, Ellen French House displayed two photos of her mother, Norma French, before and after her murder. Chemirmir, who maintained his innocence, was serving two life sentences without the possibility of parole at the Coffield Unit in Tennessee Colony.

The death of Chemirmir is currently under investigation by the Office of Inspector General.
