Dutch company Van Jorn introduces an innovative approach to building custom camper vans. Their plug-and-play ecosystem combines the cozy atmosphere of a custom van with the convenience of a modular kit that is easier to assemble than traditional options. With Van Jorn, you can say goodbye to the typical sterile appearance of modular kits and embrace a warm and inviting home on wheels.
The company uses FSC-certified wood for the module faces and allows buyers to choose the colors of the sides and upholstery. This customization adds a personal touch to each camper van. Although Van Jorn’s kit may not be as affordable or straightforward as other options, it offers a higher quality camper interior right from the start.
Van Jorn’s base package, which costs €11,300 (approximately $11,825), includes insulation, flooring, wall paneling, driver area preparation, and a lithium-powered 12/220-V electrical package. This package also includes features like windows and roof hatches, providing additional comfort and convenience.
Once the base package is installed, the real fun begins. Using Van Jorn’s online configurator, buyers can arrange the individual modules to create a floor plan that suits their needs. Van Jorn focuses on smaller single-purpose modules rather than large blocks, allowing for more flexibility in placement and easier handling. If the initial floor plan doesn’t meet expectations, owners can easily rearrange the modules until they find the perfect configuration.
Van Jorn offers a wide range of modules, including a sink module with water storage, a gas stove module, a bench seat, a fridge cabinet unit, and various overhead and floor-mounted cupboards. One of the standout features is the full-height wet bathroom module, which slides out when in use. It seamlessly integrates into the interior, saving space when not needed.
Other module options include beds, a front-facing bench with seat belts, and a foldaway dining table. Buyers can also choose to add an outdoor shower, a portable toilet, or a pop-up sleeper roof. Van Jorn ensures that their modules have a high-end appearance by using premium materials and incorporating elegant curves into their construction. Accessories like wall lamps add to the cozy ambiance.
While a Van Jorn camper van may cost more than a basic module set, it offers superior quality and flexibility. The price for a complete camper floor plan ranges from approximately €25,000 to €30,000 ($26,175 to $31,400). Buyers can either install the package in their own van or purchase a turnkey van from Van Jorn for around €75,000+ ($78,525+).
To test out the pricing, we used Van Jorn’s configurator to create a floor plan for a Peugeot Boxer van. After adding the base package, rear door windows, and a front roof hatch, we included a transverse rear bed, a sink module, and a slide-out bathroom. To complete the setup, we added overhead cabinets and a fold-out table. The total price came out close to Van Jorn’s estimate.
Van Jorn showcases its camper kit at various camper shows, including the upcoming Camping & Caravan Fair in Utrecht. If you’re looking for a unique, high-quality camper van experience, Van Jorn offers the perfect solution.
