Automobile manufacturers have recently increased the prices of popular cars and SUVs, resulting in higher costs for consumers. This price hike comes as demand for these vehicles rises during the festive season. Mahindra & Mahindra has raised prices on models such as the Thar, Scorpio, XUV 300, and XUV 700, with increases of up to Rs 81,000. Kia has also increased prices on its popular SUV Seltos and multipurpose vehicle Carens by up to Rs 50,000. Additionally, Hyundai has hiked prices on the Venue and Tucson SUVs by up to Rs 48,000.
Honda, however, has opted for a more modest price increase of around Rs 8,000 on its City and Amaze models. While automakers previously refrained from passing on increased input costs to consumers, the decision to implement a price hike is due to the continued demand and even waiting lists for these popular models.
Kia India has clarified that the earlier prices were introductory offers, and the increase comes after six months for the Seltos model. Carmakers closely monitor each other’s prices to ensure they remain competitive in the market. Therefore, it is common for them to follow suit after one brand raises prices.
