University of the Philippines (UP) guard Harold Alarcon and JD Cagulangan expressed their hunger for success despite the Fighting Maroons’ flawless 5-0 record in the UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball tournament.
In their most recent game, Alarcon and Cagulangan led UP to a dominant 110-79 victory over winless University of Santo Tomas. Despite their unbeaten start, both guards remain focused on improving and seeking redemption after finishing as runners-up last season.
Alarcon, who top-scored for UP with 21 points, emphasized the need for consistency and the eradication of bad habits. He stated, “We have to be consistent in our positive actions and reduce the mistakes we make during the game.”
Cagulangan, the hero of UP’s first UAAP championship in 36 years, highlighted the importance of not becoming overconfident despite their strong start. He said, “We shouldn’t be complacent in any aspect, whether it’s in practice or during the actual game. Our goal since the beginning of the season is to reach our maximum potential.”
