Travis Kelce claims excessive Taylor Swift coverage by NFL: Is it too much?

Travis Kelce, tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, has expressed his thoughts on the NFL’s excessive focus on his relationship with Taylor Swift. In a conversation with his brother, Jason Kelce, center for the Philadelphia Eagles, on their podcast “New Heights,” Travis discussed Swift’s attendance at the Chiefs game against the New York Jets, where she was accompanied by celebrities such as Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, and Hugh Jackman.

Travis Kelce expressed his concern about being constantly captured on television, stating, “You never know, you get caught throwing down a big old cheeseburger and you look like an idiot. There are certain things you just don’t want to be on TV at all times.”

Swift’s presence in the Kelce family’s box at the Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears on Sept. 24 has had a significant impact on merchandise sales and viewership numbers. According to a representative from ticket resale platform StubHub, there was a 175% increase in Chiefs-Jets ticket sales three days after Swift’s appearance at the Sept. 24 game, and nearly 20% of tickets for the Oct. 1 game were sold the night of Swift’s appearance.

Jason Kelce jokingly mentioned that some attendees may have been there for Ryan Reynolds’ role in the “Deadpool” movies as well as Taylor Swift. He pointed out that the NBA has a better approach to covering celebrities at sports events, with brief appearances and then a return to the game.

Not only has the NFL shown Swift multiple times during the games, but they have also heavily promoted her appearances on social media. The NFL even changed the banner image on their social media account to photos of Swift. Additionally, they posted a video of Swift talking to Blake Lively at the game on their Instagram account.

Travis Kelce believes that both football fans and Swift fans are currently overwhelmed. He first addressed his relationship with Swift in late September on a previous episode of his podcast, describing it as a “rollercoaster of life” since her initial appearance at a Chiefs game. He commended Swift’s presence and the positive feedback they received during the game.
