MIAMI, Sept. 27 (UPI) — In Week 4, fantasy football managers should think twice before starting Rhamondre Stevenson and Brian Robinson Jr. at the running back position. For alternative options, check out my recommended add/drops before your waiver wire opens. Additionally, stay tuned for my updated rankings for quarterbacks, wide receivers, and tight ends for Sunday’s games.
Leading my Top 30 rankings are Christian McCaffrey, Josh Jacobs, Kenneth Walker, Travis Etienne, and Tony Pollard. James Cook, Joe Mixon, Derrick Henry, Miles Sanders, and D’Andre Swift round out the top 10. If you own running backs Gus Edwards, Justice Hill, Aaron Jones, Austin Ekeler, or David Montgomery, monitor their injury statuses before deciding to start them. The running backs to avoid in Week 4 fall outside of the Top 24 in my rankings.

Rhamondre Stevenson has failed to perform among the top fantasy running backs this season, ranking outside of the top 20 in points per game. He has yet to reach 60 rushing yards in any of his first three starts and has only scored one touchdown. In Week 4, the Patriots face the Dallas Cowboys, who have allowed the third-fewest fantasy points to running backs this season. Last season, the Cowboys were the fourth-toughest defense against the position. Considering the Cowboys’ strong defense and the likelihood of them taking an early lead, Stevenson should only be used as a low-end RB2 or flex option in leagues with 12 or more teams. He holds the No. 27 spot in my Week 4 rankings.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White (R) is ranked No. 28 for Week 4. File Photo by Steve Nesius/UPI
Rachaad White is still the primary running back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he faces a challenging match-up in Week 4 against the New Orleans Saints, a team that has yet to allow a touchdown to a running back this season. The Saints are tied with the Kansas City Chiefs for the fifth-fewest fantasy points allowed to the position. In Week 3, they limited Green Bay Packers running back A.J. Dillon to just 33 yards on 11 carries. In Week 2, they held Carolina Panthers running back Miles Sanders to only 43 yards on 14 carries. Considering the success the Saints have had in limiting opposing running backs, White is a risky start for Week 4. He sits at No. 28 in my rankings.
Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. holds the No. 29 spot in my Week 4 rankings. File Photo by Mark Black/UPI
Brian Robinson Jr. has emerged as the lead running back for the Washington Commanders, outcarrying Antonio Gibson by 40 attempts through three weeks. Robinson has been efficient, averaging 4.6 yards per carry and scoring three touchdowns. However, in Week 4, the Commanders face the Philadelphia Eagles, who possess the best rush defense in the NFL. They have allowed a total of 145 rushing yards in their first three games. With the Eagles likely to take a large lead early in the game, Robinson’s role as a pass catcher may be diminished as the Commanders play catch-up. He should only be considered as a low-end RB2 or flex play and ranks No. 29 in my Week 4 rankings.

Just like in Week 3, A.J. Dillon faces a tough matchup against the Detroit Lions in Week 4. The Lions have allowed the fifth-fewest rushing yards and the third-fewest rushing yards to running backs in the NFL. Dillon is expected to share the workload with Aaron Jones, and I project him to gain close to 70 rushing yards in this match-up. However, as a touchdown-dependent RB2 option, Dillon falls outside of the top 30 in my Week 4 rankings.
New York Jets running back Breece Hall has struggled to produce consistently through three weeks. File Photo by Archie Carpenter/UPI
Breece Hall, the running back for the New York Jets, has failed to find consistent success after a breakout Week 1 performance of 147 yards. In Week 3, Hall managed just 27 scrimmage yards on 13 touches. In Week 4, the Jets face the Kansas City Chiefs, who have allowed the third-fewest receiving yards and the fifth-fewest fantasy points to running backs this season. Hall’s lack of consistency makes him an unreliable starting option, and he is not ranked within the top 30 in my rankings.
